Choosing the Best Soap Bar For You Made Easier

Not every bar of soap is equal in production. Who knew that so-called "cleaning" soaps, for example, might be the most detrimental to your skin? So, when you are out buying soaps based on their soap boxes, you’re wrong!

Did you know the fact that many "old-fashioned" soaps contain qualities that are significantly better than most expensive brands? However, let’s not talk about soap packaging boxes - they are definitely better today!

Soaps may be different from one another, particularly when it comes to their chemical composition and therapeutic effects. By learning what to look for, you may choose the bar soap that is most appropriate for your specific skincare.

The Process of Making Traditional Soap

The traditional method of making soap has been combining oils (animal fats or vegetable oils) and a liquid (most typically water) with alkali.

The alkali reacts with the oils, causing them to undergo a chemical reaction. This reaction is known as saponification.

Saponification is the process of converting oils, liquids, and alkalis into soap.  Sodium hydroxide, usually known as lye, is the alkali used in bar soap production.

In spite of the fact that this seems harsh, correctly manufactured soap does not include any trace of lye. Each and every one of the components has been transformed into soap! This is how it’s made safe.

Tallow (beef fat) and lard (pork fat) were traditionally used in the production of soap. In current times, soap producers still follow this process. However, animal fats are increasingly being replaced with vegetable oils such as coconut oil, palm oil, and olive oils.

Alternatively, other specialized fruit, nut, and/or vegetable oils can do the work!

Manufacturers also include fragrance, colors, essential oils, herbs, and other ingredients to make a product more appealing to the consumer. Then they pack it into attractive soap boxes. However, many of these additions do little to promote good skin health.

Choosing the Best Bar Soap

Selecting the best bar for your skin might seem overwhelming at times. Knowing what you're searching for, on the other hand, can help you limit down your options.

Make a decision on what is most important to you.

Are you a believer in the benefits of all-natural, vegan skincare products?

Then a classic handmade soap bar would be your chosen bar of soap to purchase. Just remember to check the ingredient list before purchasing since not every homemade soap is all-natural or vegan.

If the product is affordable and easily accessible in most retailers, do you think that's more important?

Syndet bars will be your go-to cleansers for you.
